What is Family & Life Inspired Photography?
Photography has evolved so much over the years. Change can be a very good thing, but it also brings some challenges. One of the changes that I embrace is going from classic, timeless portraiture in the studio to a more candid approach.
Hear me when I say, I LOVE both. Both studio and outdoor portraiture that is more formally posed with everyone looking one direction (usually at the camera) is always timeless and is a beautiful way to showcase your family.
Lifestyle Photography is a more candid, middle of the road approach. Using guided posing and a more casual, candid way of looking at things, a Lifestyle Photographer will capture moments that are real and candid, but with a more guided approach. Prompts are given to each person being photographed, such as, "Give your mom a big kiss!", "Tell your dad a secret", and the reactions and expressions of each person is captured beautifully.
And at the other end of the spectrum is Documentary Style Photography. Often, photographers will use a more documentary style (we offer this!) whereas every moment the photographer spends with the family is real life, unscripted and candid. No guided or formal posing. You will see what is actually going on in your life-even when you are not there to see it! Did you know that your child is using the wall as a canvas and drawing you a beautiful picture with a crayon? You might be in a different room, but if a documentary photographer was with that child, you would see that!
We like to mix Portraiture and Lifestyle photography and be inspired by you and your life, so we use a bit of both, and use the term, Family and Life Inspired Photography!
Take a look at these images. Some were given instruction on how to stand or sit, and then prompted to swing the child into the air, kiss his brother, laugh, and tickle your sister. And one little one just wanted to run so we ran with her and did the best we could to capture her personality! These are examples of Lifestyle Photography that is a good mix of both.
Portrait Sessions
Looking at these images, you see more formal posing. You see everyone looking toward the camera spot and either smiling or looking happy (with the exception of one little one-she was having a rough time!), and loving on each other. These types of images are great! Most families we work with LOVE these images because these are the ones they want to frame, use to create a canvas and/or use for an album to help tell their story.
Documentary Sessions-Real Life is Beautiful
What do you see when you look at these images? Do you see any posed imagery? These types of images are what we call, Real Life is Beautiful. Documentary style; capturing your every day life just as it is. Real, unscripted, candid. You might be surprised at just how beautiful these images can be!
Most often, we miss the moments that are happening around us because we are busy with our every day life! If you had a photographer come to your home to capture your every day life, imagine how precious these images will be in years to come! We think real life is beautiful, and these sessions are here for you to help you see an extraordinary story of your every day life!
These types of sessions are at the other end of the spectrum of photography.
So, what do we do?
We do all three. We want our clients to LOVE what they see, see their love and connection and see their love story come to life through our photographic experience.
Because of that, we offer a mix of Lifestyle and Portraiture in all our Deluxe, Petite and Custom sessions so that can be brought to life. Our Real Life is Beautiful sessions are a niche all their own so if you want a documentary style session, that is the one you need.
Our Inspiration is YOU
We are inspired by everyone we meet-your life, your loved ones and your family. So, our approach is Family and Life inspired Photography just for you. We would love to learn your story and spend some time with you. Give us a call today to learn how we can show you your beautiful love, life, and story!
