To The Mom and Dad of Graduates…
Senior Portraits are a big deal. We think it is an opportunity to commemorate and celebrate your senior's high school or college experience. Or maybe you just want to survive the fact that he or she and you survived all those years of education?
Whatever the reason, this time is a significant milestone in your senior's and the family's story. We think it is pretty valuable; one worth being captured and told in portrait form.
Helpful Tips to Help You Have the Best Session
Start With The End In Mind
What are we photographing for? In other words, what is the end result you would like to see from the images that you are having created?
Wall Art
Do you envision one statement piece of your senior somewhere in your home? Or perhaps a small wall gallery?
Album
Perhaps you want more imagery and a way to tell your seniors story? An album will fit the bill!
Portrait Boxes
Would you like to give portraits as gifts, keep some for yourself, and have a beautiful treasure, keepsake box?
Headshots
What about a Head Shot?
As your senior dips their toe into the world of #adulting one of the first things they are going to need is a professional headshot for profile pics and applications for almost everything! That headshot should project personality and confidence and show you as authentically as possible. We can do that for you!
Set a Precedent
If this is your first child to graduate, consider this- you are setting a standard for all the future seniors in your family. What would you like each of your children to have?
Thinking long term to what you would like a Wall Gallery to look like or an album design to be when your last child has graduated, will help you plan for the future and help each of your children receive something from the session.
Do's & Dont's
What To Wear
How many outfits is too many? If you bring your entire closet, then yes. That is too many. You will spend more time changing than photographing. So, we recommend up to three outfits to give you the best variety and most photography time.
Wear what you love and feel good in! Choose outfits that make you feel confident. Choose outfits based on activities in school (band uniform, track and field, for example) or choose outfits based on look. Perhaps you want a more formal look-choose a suit or long dress. Perhaps you want a casual look-choose jeans, a great sweater/shirt and some accessories and you are good to go!
We always help our clients with outfits and have often stood in their closets for our Custom Sessions and helped make the decisions!
We offer a complimentary Wardrobe Guide to all our clients, too!
To Be There or Not
One of our most important beliefs is being sure that the seniors loved ones are also celebrated in a portrait session. Mom or Dad and/or grandparents are more than welcome to jump in. We love being able to capture these special relationships with the biggest cheerleaders in the seniors lives. The person or persons who stand beside them,no matter what.
Last Family Portrait?
We hope it is not the LAST family portrait, but it will be the last one with your senior as a part of your immediate family. Your senior is now headed into the world in a different way, so it might be more challenging to get everyone together again for one family portrait.
Because of this, we always include a short time that all immediate family members can be involved in. We set aside 15 minutes either during the senior session, or at another time so that you can have one last family portrait together.
We know how emotional it can be to see your child as a senior. It is a bittersweet and happy moment all at the same time.
We would love to help you remember this time in your life and celebrate your senior move on to the next stage in his or her life.
