2020 is an unprecedented year. I think it will go down in the books as one of the worst years in history for mental health issues, physical problems, business failure, and unemployment.
I do not have the statistics and I do not want to look anymore, so this is not going to be about whether we should wear a mask, or whether each individual person has a right to choose. I do know that most of the statistics, "orders" and responses by government have changed based on pushback from people and the ACTUAL data.
When any unknown hits, it is usually better to go to the other extreme for safety as there are so many unknowns. But, when the data comes in, plans need to be changed.
The one thing for me that has stayed a constant throughout this entire year is this. People are important. People should be valued. People should be loved and respected. Other people's property should be respected.
Opinions will differ. Opinions will cause people to rise up against what they believe is wrong. Injustice will cause people to stand up and shout. People will choose different viewpoints and then based on that, will produce behavior that aligns with it. Should you wear a mask? Are you selfish if you do not? Or are you selfish telling everyone else what to do? Should we all just develop herd immunity? Should we stay in lockdown indefinitely?
People have different attitudes, opinions, and viewpoints. Their behavior will reflect that. But, people are people. We are all human. That is what we have in common.
When you come to Songs of Life Photography, you will be treated with respect.
When you come to Songs of Life Photography, you will be treated with kindness.
When you come to Songs of Life Photography, you will be treated as you matter, because you do.
Your comfort, your opinion and your safety matter.
We will keep our distance from you if that is what you prefer. Wear a mask, if that is what you prefer. If you would rather have a session outdoors, we will. Our studio is kept clean and is disinfected after every person leaves. And, we never have more than 10 people together.
If we have our session outdoors, I can certainly keep my distance from you. It is amazing what a 200mm lens can capture. We can speak across the parking lot or even use our phones to communicate outside while on the session if that is what you prefer.
The only thing I cannot do is wear a mask. I have some physical issues that make it very difficult to breathe with one on. But, that does not mean I will not respect your right to wear one. I have adapted my life around that and do not expect stores to allow me in if they have a policy that says I need to wear one. So, if we are outside, and you are concerned, I will keep my distance. If you need a studio session and are concerned, I will wear one for as long as I can tolerate it and take breaks if necessary.
