It is hard to describe in words how I feel about photographing a couple that has been married for over 50 years. One that met in high school, were high school sweethearts, raised two beautiful children, and continue to reside in the town they both were born in.
Many couples do not make it to 40 let alone 50 years of marriage. But Linda and Robert did. Getting a call from Linda was one of the best things that happened this year. Couples in their 70's have a lot to tell. Their stories are etched in their minds of an era gone by. An era of no internet, no cell phones, and certainly not any of the technology we have today. It was about relationships and being with family. It was about picnics and celebrating the 4th of July with the community.
Much has changed for them, but they are two of the most beautiful people I have had the joy to be with. Still active and doing well, their portrait hangs beautifully in their home and reminds them of many of the memories from their past, but also the beauty of the future and their life now.
Thank you so much for giving me this great honor, Linda and Robert.
