The holidays are fast approaching and I cannot even believe it. With that arrival comes the thoughts about gift giving. What do you do for gift giving for the holidays? I like to give the gift of time.
Why? Because family and relationships are the most important thing in life. This is not saying that giving tangible gifts that have meaning to someone is not important, but giving your time to a loved one is key to deepening your relationship and becoming closer together.
So why not ask your family to give their time to your kids this year? Plan a special outing to the movies, then dinner after. Plan a time for the kids to go over to the grandparents house to make cookies and read books together.
The possibilities are endless and time is the most precious gift you can give.
And, here are a few ideas for you!
Deck the Halls -Visit a Christmas tree farm.
The scent of the pines, crisp cool air, and hot chocolate or cider will make for a memorable experience. Bring home a tree, a wreath, or simply some greenery for decorating around the house. Then, make some popcorn, eat some and string some for the tree!
Create Together
This is a perfect opportunity to start, or continue, a holiday family tradition. Whether it’s baking and decorating cookies, building a gingerbread house, or constructing a snowman - these simple, yet heart-warming activities are fun for all ages. The time spent creating something together will help you bond over the holidays and help develop lasting, loving relationships.
Play Games Host a good old-fashioned game night.
Playing board games with your loved ones not only encourages a little competition, but also helps develop thinking skills needed in life. Unplug, gather around, and dust off that old Scrabble board. Or play a game of Candy Land with the littles.
