The Best of - Photo Sessions
Recently, I have been going through many of the family photography sessions that were held when I was in Illinois. I was feeling very nostalgic and wanted to go down memory lane to see the families I had the joy to photograph.
I soon realized that it was going to take me a long time to get through the many, many images and folders on my computer as there were so many!
As I was reviewing everything, the thought came to mind, " Why not do a "best of" family photo sessions?" How fun would that be? And, that thought continued. Why not create a "Best of" kids photos? Seniors? Couples?
So, the "Best of" series has been born.
For me, the "best of" might not necessarily mean the best technically correct. Or even photos that have the best composition and lighting. The photos chosen will be ones that bring joy and laughter, and might even move your heart to tears. They will be ones that will, hopefully, bring an emotional connection.
Enjoy the first of many "Best of" photos to come!
She was not having it.
The above image was taken a few years ago at one of my favorite locations. The mom has three other older children, and this little one was having a challenging time during our session. The older children were doing their best to help their youngest sibling, but when mom finally came over, this moment happened. Mom took her daughter's hand and just loved on her quietly and peacefully. For me, this was one of the best moments during our session as it showed the overwhelming love mom had for her daughter.
Brother Sister Love.
These two always made me laugh. Big brother was very protective of his sister and would go out of his way to help her. Reading and/or explaining items in the book happened to be on the agenda that day, and sister gave the most loving look while he was doing it.
Fast forward to the next moment when she decided it was time to give him a kiss. Whether he just was not wanting it, or was just surprised, the moment captured makes for a great "best of" in my book.
Family is Forever
Having a large family makes for a great photo session. Great ideas and a loving connection help showcase the love that is shared, and this family did it all perfectly. Even through the loss of a daughter, this family still stays strong in their love for each other. And, bringing her into the photo session by way of a beautiful oil painting is a great reminder of who she was and that she will always be a part of the family.
