A cold, wintery day at Riverview Farmstead in Naperville and an extended family braving the cold produced beautiful imagery! With most of the adults in the education field, and one of them being an accomplished seamstress, our session was fun and high energy as the kiddos ran around to stay warm. The ponchos and most of the clothing were all designed and created by April, one of the family members, who is also currently working on her dissertation. You may have read about April and her family before, as April has created all the beautiful gowns we have used for many of our studio sessions, model calls, and for last year's Pony Mini sessions.
Despite the cold, we were able to capture one fantastic family portrait in addition to each individual family and most of the kiddos. They were all extremely understanding and knew what they needed to do in order to capture the best portraits.
Having the session at Riverview Farmstead enabled us to have a few different locations within the preserve, which gave this family great variety in their imagery.
These images will be treasured for many years. Having an extended family session is truly a joy, and a lot of work for the families! As children grow older and life gets busier, families often do not get together as often as they used to. So, having a family portrait taken every year to mark the milestones and growth of the children is one way to keep your family members close.
